Faculty Position in
Stem Cell Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio
The San Antonio Institute for Cellular & Molecular Primatology (SAICMP)
in conjunction with The Department of Biology at The University of
Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and The Department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San
Antonio (UTHSCSA) is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenured or
tenure-track faculty position in stem cell research (pending
budgetary approval). Rank is open. This position will be part of a
stem cell research group focused on aspects of embryology, stem cell
biology, epigenetics, transgenesis, biogenesis research, and
regenerative medicine in humans, nonhuman primates and other model
organisms including rodents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will have a
Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) in Biology or a related
discipline. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level will require
relevant postdoctoral experience and demonstrated potential for
excellence in stem cell research. Preference will be given to those
candidates with experience working with human or nonhuman primate
embryonic stem cells or other types of stem cells, although
experience with stem cell research in rodent models will also be
considered. An applicant at the Associate Professor level will
require all of the above plus a well-established research program
with a record of extramural funding. An applicant at the Full
Professor level will require all of the above plus a distinguished
record of sustained funding and productivity as well as leadership
in their field.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will include a primary appointment
in the Department of Biology at UTSA, with the option to hold an
adjunct position at UTHSCSA. The successful applicant will be
expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program,
to participate in collaborative research activities with other
members of the SAICMP, and to participate in academic and service
activities at UTSA based on standard UTSA policies for all faculty
members
